Thomas William Hart Plain was born about 1828 and died in Cardiff on 12 January 1908.[1]
On Christmas Eve 1850 Thomas married Jane Davies in Cardiff.[2] There are conflicting records about the location of the marriage either St John[3] or St Mary's[4] although both refer to the same people present I believe that there is a transcription error and it is the same marriage being referred to. Images of the Glamorganshire parish records are available on Find My Past and the original record clearly shows the "marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of St Mary the Virgin Cardiff in the County of Glamorgan."[5]
In all of the these records, Thomas only uses his first name, but I am happy that this is the correct record as we know from the Obituary that he marries "Miss Davies of Cardiff" and the 1841 census shows Thomas living at home with his father John who is listed as an Ag Lab.
Thomas and Jane have the following children, sadly not all survived childhood. Thier names become more elaborate to reflect the family status:
(There is a memorial to the Plain famiy in Cardiff - seen an image possibly on Find a Grave, but unable to locate it at this time Wilkins-1208 21:46, 12 March 2019 (UTC))
