Biography

Edward Platt was born in about 1816 in Tarbock, Lancashire. He was the son of Edward and Mary Platt. He was christened on 18 Aug 1816 at St Mary the Virgin Church in Prescot, Lancashire. His family's address was given as Torbock, and his father's occupation as collier.
Edward married Mary Ann Ledwards or Leadward on 18 Jun 1837 in Huyton by Roby, Lancashire.
Their daughter Sarah Platt was born in about 1838 in Prescot, Lancashire.[1]
Their daughter Ann Platt was born in about 1840 in Thatto Heath, Eccleston, Lancashire.
By June 6th 1841, they were living in Springfield Row, Eccleston. Edward was a coal miner.
Their daughter Mary Platt was born in about 1842 in Eccleston.
Their son John Platt was born in about 1844 in Prescot, Lancashire.
Their son Edward Platt was born in about 1847 in Prescot.
Their daughter Charlotte Platt was born in 1849 in Prescot. Her birth was registered in the last quarter of the year, in Prescot district.
By March 30th 1851, they were living in Prescot. Edward was employed as a coal miner.
Their daughter Jane Platt was born in about 1855 in Prescot.
Their son James Platt was born in about 1857 in Parr.
Their son Hugh Platt was born in about 1860 in Haydock.
By April 7th 1861, Edward was still working as a collier, and they were living in Park Road, Parr.
Their daughter Elizabeth Platt was born in about 1863 in Haydock.
By April 2nd 1871, he was still a coal miner, and they were still in Haydock.
By April 3rd 1881, he was still a coal miner, and they were still in Haydock.
According to the FamilySearch tree entry for Mary Ann, she died on 13 Sep 1884 in Parr.
According to the FamilySearch tree entry for Edward, in which no inaccuracies have been observed, he died on 4 May 1886. If this is correct, it matches a death registration in the second quarter of 1886 in Prescot district, aged 69.
