Fred Baldock Platts was born in 1872 in West Leake, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of Thomas Platts and Emma Baldock. [1]

In 1881, Fred Platts (9, born West Leake) was living in West Leake, Nottinghamshire, with his parents, Thomas Platts (38, a butcher and farmer of 32 acres employing 1 boy, born in West Leake, Nottinghamshire) and Emma Platts (39, born in Wysall, Nottinghamshire) and one brother, William Platts (12, born in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire). Emma's mother, Dinah Widowson (64, widowed former innkeeper, born in Gotham, Nottinghamshire) and one servant completed the household. [2]

In 1891, Fred B Platts (19) was a baker's apprentice to John Wardle (48, a grocer, baker and farmer born Kegworth) in High Street, Kegworth, Shardlow, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. In 1939, Eliza Platts (widow, born 03 May 1875, doing Unpaid Domestic Duties) was living in The Square, Costock, Basford R.D., Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom with Margaret Alice Platts, later Agar (born 4 July 1903) and William Platts (born 6th Oct 1914). [9]
