Joseph Platts was born about 1777, according to the marriage source.
Joseph Platts of Findern, Derbyshire, England married Ann Woodward in Repton, Derbyshire on 14th July 1803, by licence.
[1][2][3]
Joseph Platts was a wheelwright living in Chellaston, Derbyshire in 1829.
[4]
Joseph, a wheelwright of Chellaston died intestate in 1835. Letters of administration named Ann, his widow as administrator of his estate, dated 20th June 1835. The document bundle is dated 1st July 1835.
[5]
In Pigot's directory of 1835, Joseph was listed as a wheelwright in Chellaston, Derbyshire, England. his son, John Platts was a wheelwright in Etwall, son, Robert was a joiner in Etwall and son, Joseph was a baker in Etwall.
[6][7]
In 1841, Joseph Platts' widow, Ann Platts (64) was living in Church Street, Chellaston, Derbyshire. Their son, John Platts (23) and two children, possibly grandchildren, William Platts (8) and John Hickling (2) were also in the household.
[8]
John Hicklin was the son of Joseph Platts' daughter, Elizabeth Platts and her husband, Joseph Hicklin.
[9]
John Platts, also a wheelwright in Findern and born in Swarkestone, Derbyshire married Ann Hicklin in Twyford, Derbyshire in 1783. Swarkestone is 1.7 miles from Chellaston. I therefore believe there is a family relationship between John and Joseph.
