John William Henson Platts was born in 1862 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of Isabella Platts and presumably, Unknown Henson. [1]

In 1871, John William Platts (8, son-in-law) was in the household of James Clamp (36) and his wife, Isabella (29) in Mammoth Street, Coalville, Leicestershire, with seven Clamp children aged between 13 years and 5 months. [3]

John Platts married Amelia Bradford on 8th July 1888 in Measham. [4][5]

In 1891, Amelia and John were living at 5 Oxford Road, Whitwick with 2 children, Alfred (2) and Lilian (7 months). [6]

In 1901, the couple and their five children were living at Ellsmere Cottages, Park Road, Coalville. [7]

In 1911, John and Amelia Platts were living at The Poplars, London Road, Coalville, with five children. They had been married 22 years and six of their seven children were still alive. [8]
