Note: 1941: Winthrop, NY - Mr. and Mrs. Douglass Ploof of Brasher Falls announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Theodora June Ploff to Parker Rose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rose, Winthrop. Miss Ploof came here from Massena with her parents, four years ago. She attended Massena High School and will graduate from Brasher and Stockholm High School this June. Mr. Rose graduated from Potsdam High School, Potsdam State Normal School and is working for a degree at St. Lawrence University. He is teaching school this year in the Page District. The wedding will take place this fall. ^[2] 1942: Theodora was graduated from the Brasher Falls high school in June 1941. In the year before her marriage in 1942, she has been in training at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Cornwall, Ont. ^[6] 2017: Theodora (Babe) Rose passed away peacefully on October 28, 2017. She was born on October 10, 1922 in Massena to Douglas and Bessie (Patraw) Ploof. Babe graduated from Brasher-Stockholm High School in 1941 and later attended nursing school in Cornwall, Ontario. On April 17, 1942 she married Parker W. Rose. Babe worked at Potsdam State while Parker started his teaching career in a one room school house. He later became a long-time principal in the Massena School District. Together they had four children Carolyn, Carl, Marilyn and Barbara. Parker and Babe spent winters in Stuart, Florida and enjoyed traveling throughout the world. They spent much of their time attending sporting and other events in their grandchildren's lives. Family and social gatherings were a huge part of their activities. Babe is survived by her son, Carl P. Rose (Michele); daughters Carolyn Wells (Bruce) and Barbara Murray (Stephen);. grandchildren are Matthew Rose (Stephanie), Rebecca Rose, Carrie Tyo (Jeff), Stephen, Jason, and Michael (Jennifer) Murray, Amy Hornung (Michael). and Bruce Wells; her brother, Gary Ploof (Ann); and sister Bette Williams (Bruce); and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Parker; daughter Marilyn; grandson Daniel Parker Rose; brother Douglas Ploof; and sister Pauline Kinney. At the family's request there will be no calling hours and funeral arrangements will be private with the Hammill Funeral Home. ^[3]
