Plouffe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Plouffe of 56 Pembroke Ave. enlisted in the Army last week, for three years, and is at Ft. Dix, N.J. for a week. of processing and further assignment to a basic training unit. He is a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School where he was on the football and hockey teams. Upon completion of basic training, he will receive a two-week leave and will then report to technical training unit to learn the operation of construction equipment. [3] 1965: Announcement was made today of the marriage of Mrs. Carole Ann Freeman Rahilly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Freeman of 28 Worthington St., to Frederick Arthur Plouffe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard O. Plouffe of 90 Mclntosh Drive. The wedding took place Aug. 21 at Pilgrim Memorial Church, where the Rev. Dudne M. Breeze officiated. A reception followed at the Becket home of the bride's uncle, Arthur F. Smith. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a light blue crepe street-length dress with satin bow and matching satin Dior headbow with shoulder-length veil. Her cascade was of white carnations and blue stephanotis. Mrs. Alan L. Plouffe of Hingham, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. She wore a mauve silk sheath and a matching Dio headbow with veil. Her bouquet was of white carnations and pink daisies. Alan Plouffe of Hingham, the bridegroom's brother, was best man. After a tour of the New England States, the couple will live at 32 Ensign Ave. The bride, who graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1959 is an assembler at Eaton Paper Corp. Mr. Plouffe, a carpenter for Robert Betit, Dalton, also graduated in 1959 from Pittsfield High School. He served in the Army for three years, two of which were spent in Germany. [6] 2011: PITTSFIELD, MA - Frederick Arthur Plouffe, 69, of 24 Westover St., died Aug 7, 2011, at home following a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Dec 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Bernard O. Plouffe and Norma A. Chiorgno Plouffe. He was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School where he was captain of the hockey team and also lettered in football and track. He enlisted in the Army Oct 20, 1959, where he trained as a heavy equipment operator. He was stationed in Germany for two years during the rebuilding of Europe after World War II. He married his wife, Nancy Harrison Cole, in Pittsfield on Feb. 3, 1990. He was employed as a carpenter for 42 years as a member of The Carpenters' Local 108, retiring in 2001. He was an avid canoeist and sailor. For many years his passion was sailing the Nanny Goat on Lake Champlain. During his retirement, his passion changed to geocaching. His devotion to geocaching, as with all his interests in life, enabled him and Nancy to become well known in New England. One of his proudest achievements was building a Melonseed sailboat. For years, he could be found sailing the local lakes. He then set off to sail his boat to Canada. His route took him up the Hudson River, through the locks in the Champlain Canal and then Lake Champlain. He was predeceased by his brother, Alan L. Plouffe of Brockton. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Eric, and wife Anita of Pittsfield; and his three grandsons Colin, Nolan and Hayden. Per his wishes, there will not be a memorial service. He will be buried at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, MA. [2]
