Biography

In the 1870 census, Henry is 8 years old, living in Taylor, Greene Co., MO with his mother, Eliza, and 4 of his siblings: Greene, Sarah, John, and Artela.

In the 1880 census, Henry is still at home with his mother and two siblings, John and Sarah.

In 1900, he is 39, unmarried and living in Ruth Township, Stone Co., MO with Jonathon Gillespie and his wife, Sarah, who is Henry's sister. Jonathon is listed as a farmer and Henry is listed as a merchant with his relationship to the head of household being a partner.

By 1910, he is 49 (although the census says 47) and married to Faith, who is 32. They have a daughter, Pauline who is 5, and another daughter, Edith, who is one. They are still living in Ruth Township, Stone Co., MO.

By 1920, the family has moved to Routt., CO. They now have 3 daughters, Pauline, who is 14, Edith, who is 11, and Vera Grace, who is 3.

I don't know what to think about the little boy in the picture. Wish I knew! But he doesn't show up on any of the census records.

The following information was compiled from his obit which was published in the Stone County News-Oracle (Galena, MO), 30 Dec 1942.

Henry B Plummer is the youngest child of John and Eliza Wharton Plummer. The family had come to Greene County, MO from North Carolina through Tennessee by 1850. Henry was born in MO in 1862, the youngest of ten children. His oldest brother died at Andersonville in 1864.

The family owned a farm 8 miles east of Springfield on the Mill Street Road. His father donated the ground for the Plummer school house, the first in that area. It was still being used in 1942.

By 1900, Henry was living in Stone Country and in 1910 he was operating a general store in Reeds Spring as the Missouri Pacific Railroad was being built.

In 1916, he sold the store and moved to Steamboat Springs, CO, where he farmed for some years before retiring and moving to Los Angeles, were he resided until his death. He was survived by his wife and three daughters.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Henry by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Henry:
