My father's family is the Plumstead family, of which I am told there is some connection/ancestry to the Mayflower...My mother's is the Thibodeau family, of which I am an 11th generation descendent of Pierre Thibodeau. I have a vast extended family, and familial documents which can hopefully fill in some gaps between the 9th and 11th generations of Thibodeau's.

Biography

Jennifer or Jenni Plum as she is known was born and raised in the great state of Maine - born in 1984 to Chris and Kim Plumstead (Thibodeau maiden, Singel second married last name) - Kimberly Anne (Thibodeau) Singel (1961-2013)

When she was born her parents lived and worked at the Embden Resorts in Embden Maine. Her mom as a waitress and her dad as a chef. Shortly after Jenni was born they relocated to Bangor Maine, where they lived for about 2 years before relocating to Waterville, Maine.

When Jenni was about 4, she had a sister, Megan Plumstead. who was born around the beginning of December - she was born with a rare chromosomal disorder known as Trisomy 13 and passed away not long after her birth.

After Waterville, their family moved to the Greater Bangor area, in Newburgh, Hampden and Old Town, respectively. Old Town being the area that Kim and her family moved to from Caribou Maine in the 1960s.

Jenni's mom Kim remarried in approx 1997, to Ron Singel, originally of the Cuyahoga Valley area, OH resident. He was the city manager of Old Town and Waterville Maine, later moving on to take positions in Bend OR, Wasilla AK and eventually Chippewa Falls WI. Kim and Ron had 1 child on her birthday July 24th in 1998, when Jenni was 14. His name is Nicholas Adam Singel and he resides in the Unity area of Maine where he moved when their mother died.

Jenni is a 2002 graduate of the charter school formerly known as the Community School (or C-school) in Camden, ME (Now Wayfinder School). Jenni received her diploma from the community school at age 17, after only 2 years of formal high school and 6 months at the charter. She attributes this program to her early success in life and her career despite having a lot of traumatic events occur in her life up to that point. Jenni worked for the school for a time after her graduation, filling in for their receptionist and digitizing their paper records for the transition to the new 501c3 which would begin running it, Wayfinder.

Much like her grandfather Eugene, (who was at a time president of the Amherst Maskers and later went into broadcasting) and her father Chris, (who has been a musician in several successful bands over the years, most recently, Gunther Brown based out of Portland ME) Jenni is a lover of all things related to the arts. In her later teen years and early 20s joined several professional theater production companies, as an actor, assistant director, set designer, asst. musical director, choreographer, ast lighting dir, and more.

She was asst director for a traveling partition of the national company, Missoula Children's theater which was operated out of the Waterville Opera House in Maine, "The Missoula Children's Theatre is the world's largest touring children's theatre" [1] She has also worked with the Camden Civic Theater company and the Penobscot Theater Company. Jenni took dance for about a decade with a focus in tap and jazz through Top Hat II dance school in Hampden/Hermon area of Maine.

This is where Jenni began her fundamentals in film photography, black and white photography and film development. She would later round out that skill set with courses from Rockport Photographic Workshop (now Maine Media College) near the end of high school. This is also where she began a foray into alternative modeling, eventually switching to the other side of the lens for her group, The Maine Cannababes.

For a while before that, Jenni was a live concert photographer and journalist, and had a radio show on a station in Rockland, Maine. Jenni has met, interviewed and photographed many famous bands and musicians since 2001 - Devil Drive (Dez and Mike), Flogging Molly (Dave and Bridget), Invitro (Mikey Doling from Snot), 5 Finger Death Punch singer, Biohazard and Suicide City lead singer, Billy, Corey and Jesse from the Aggrolites, Miles and Kyle from Slightly Stoopid, and every member of the Kottonmouth Kings. She also took photos for local notable band, Uncle Jack and many more. She had a record label for 3 years and threw metal concerts for the at risk youth of Midcoast Maine - having an article published in Village Soup as a guest columnist entitled "The Tragically Bored Youth of Midcoast Maine"

Jenni is a well known cannabis/medical marijuana activist, who was instrumental in the fight to legalize recreational marijuana via legalizemaine - Jenni has appeared on the show on Vice Network, episode "Between Life and Dope" for her work to change laws regarding patients awaiting organ transplants and their ethical/legal use of medical marijuana - and was also involved in the filming of another episode.

Jenni is the owner of the group the Cannababes and has been interviewed on many popular podcasts.. (links to be added at a later date) She is an accomplished photographer, and writer. She has self published a book of poetry, in Minor Keys relating to death, grieving and loss, and is currently working on many other writing projects.

Jenni started her career in 1999 at approx age 15 working for Down East Books & | Down East Magazine , the renowned "magazine of Maine". She worked her way through most all of the departments therin by age 20. She worked for approx 6 years at Bank of America as well following that (marketing dept).

She currently works full time as a tax preparer and trainer in the winter, but in the summer works for a large event producer in the state, (Foo Crew/Avenue Media) putting her background in music and media to work!

Jenni plays many instruments, most all self taught - and is also a vocalist who received some instruction via the Northern Conservatory of Music, based out of Boston, but had a small branch in Bangor Maine for a time, of which she went to summer day programs. She studied primarily musical theater, and was in the program for 3 seasons. She also plays piano, guitar, bass, clarinet, irish tin whistle and ukulele.

Jenni has been diagnosed with a genetic condition known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hypermobility type). This was misdiagnosed for years as fibromyalgia. During some of the times she hasn't been physically well, she has taken to learning various forms of art and painting, being considered extremely gifted by her peers who attended art college.

She works in a broad variety of mediums, has done many live painting events, partaken in mural paintings, sold many original works (that lead her to buy equipment for her photo studio). She is currently working on several series of watercolors, and hopes to have her artwork uploaded online this winter. Jenni had 2 sons, her first in 2005, Jeremy-Christopher whom she gave her last name, who has biological father family of "Kelly" last name from the Rockland area of Maine. She was pleased to find familial records in her mother's belongings after she passed away, which fills in many gaps in history in online records - she hopes to fill in the blanks for relatives and generations to come!

Jenni is currently researching the paternal lineage of her Plumstead ancestors who came from England, and her Duffy ancestors who came from Ireland. She is only a few generations removed from their original immigration from Ireland, her great grandfather Patrick originating from County Meath, Ireland.

For Plumstead lineage (her father's father) Thus far can be confirmed, Matthew Buscall Plumstead was our direct relative. He had 10 children with his wife, Martha Crooker. Their son Asa Palmer Plumstead having 10 children. One of which was Asa Willard (CPT Will) Plumstead. Asa W fathered at least 6 children, 1 being Joseph Edwin, who is Jenni's great grandfather. She has been scouring parish records from the UK to trace the exact line back to the early beginnings of what is now known as Plumstead England, and will be adding profiles as she confirms information! P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

I am enjoying myself! I have created some to do lists that I will be sharing within the communities to get some help with a few dead ends I've hit! So far everything is great. I am sourcing info from various archives for free and making it available here, instead of many of the paid sites where, granted a lot of the research is already done....but....I feel like people should have access to these things for free, so I am trying to piece together as much as I can from various archives and make available here about my family history, so those who come after me won't have so much work to do :) I have been enjoying chatting with a distant relative who is quite the contributor, she has been extremely helpful! I haven't jumped into all of the tools yet, it's a rabbit hole I'm looking forward to this winter - our winters are long and cold up here in Maine 'bud! :) Thanks again!
