Biography

Julius F. was born about 1809 in North Carolina, the son of Margaret Purviance. His biological father was James Plunkett and Julius was given the surname Plunkett, even though James Plunkett never married Margaret Purviance. Margaret had 4 illegitimate sons with James Plunkett in Cabarrus County, North Carolina between 1807 and 1815. He married Mary “Polly” Scott on June 25, 1835, in Sangamon County, Illinois. Julius moved to Henry County, Iowa, with his mother and siblings where his brothers and mother died in the 1840s. [1] He was living in Trenton, Iowa, in 1850 and in Marion, Iowa, in 1860, according to census records. They moved to Carrollton, Missouri, in 1868. He died on August 19, 1881, at the age of seventy-three years. [2]

Julius F. Plunkett was the son of James L. Plunkett and Margaret (Purviance Plunkett. He was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
