Biography

European Aristocracy
Edmond Plunkett was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Edmund Plunkett was born about 1445 / 50 probably at Killeen, the son of Christopher Plunkett, 1st Lord of Killeen and his wife Genet Bellew [1]

Edmund m1). a daughter of FitzGerald [1]

He m2). Eleanor Fleming, only daughter of James Fleming, 7th Baron Slane, and his wife Elizabeth Welles. [1] & [2]

he succeeded on the death in 1467/8 of his brother Christopher Plunkett from plague. [1]

in 1489 he was one of the eleven Irish barons who obeyed King Henry VIII's summons to Greenwich. He was present in 1493 at a Council in Trim. [1]

He was commander at the Battle of Knockdoe,Lackagh, co. Galway in 1504, attending the Earl of Kildare [1] & [2]

Edmund Plunkett 3rd. Lord of Killeen died in 1510 and was buried at Killeen. [1]

He was succeeded as 4th Lord of KIlleen by his son John [1]

Research Notes

Lodge has a differing numbering sequence for Lords of Killeen and states that Edmund succeeded as 4th Lord of Killeen on the death of his father in 1449 but this date seems improbable.
