Paweł was born in 1876. He was the son of Jan Podgruszny and Eudoksa Drabiniasta. Paul came to Canada in 1904, sailing from Hamburg, Germany on 15 June aboard the Assyria. He arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on 30 June and travelled to the Newdale/Sandy Lake area of Manitoba to join his sisters Mary and Tena and their families. Paul married his first wife Mary in 1908 at Newdale, Manitoba. They had a daughter Annie in 1909 and shortly after the birth of Annie, they moved to Alberta. Paul was a farmer and spent most of his life farming near Myrnum, Alberta. Five sons were added to the family but sadly, Mary passed away at the birth of their fifth son, Frank. Paul remarried in 1928 to Anna Puchkyj. In 1961 Paul and his son Peter died in a railway crossing accident at Claysmore, Alberta. Paul is interred at Myrnum, Alberta. After coming to Canada, Paul spelled his surname - Podruchny and his sons used - Pidruchney.
