DECATUR DAILY REVIEW - 20SEP1957 - RENARD F. KAHLER DIES - DECATUR NAVY MAN, 30, TO BE BURIED IN EAST Funeral services for Renard F. Kahler, 30, Navy gunners mate 1c, were held today in Newport, RI. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Quincy, MA. He died of lung cancer in his home in Newport. Gunners mate Kahler had been in the Navy 13 years, enlisting in Decatur in 1944. He was born in Decatur 22May1927. He leaves his wife, Arlene; & son, Rennard Jr. of Newport; his mother, Mrs. Lovilla Kahler; 3 brothers, Leon, William & Donald; & 2 sisters, Mrs. Dolores Vest & Mrs. Charlotte Houck, all of Decatur.
NEWPORT DAILY NEWS - 21SEP1957 - RENNARD KAHLER RITES Services for Gunners Mate 1 C Rennard Francis Kahler of 83 Spring St. who was attached to the USS Dortch were held at the Dinph Funeral Home yesterday. Chaplain Ivande P. May III of the Naval Hospital officiated. Burial was in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy, MA where the committal service was read by the Rev. E. J. Bauer paster of the Wollaston Lutheran Church.
