Virgil Ona Poe was the 10th child of Adolphus Poe and his wife Elizabeth Ann Bainbridge.
He enlisted in the US Army on June 27, 1918 and was released on May 9, 1919.
Eight days later, Virgil married Ottie Lena Campbell on May 17, 1919. They were married in Wheeling, Ohio, WV by Reverend George E. Lockhart. He and his wife then moved into his parents' house at 436 Barrett Street in Grafton.
They had three sons - Roy Ona (1921-1936), Edsell Neil (1923-1944) and Norman L. Poe (1924-1973).
For most of his life, Virgil worked for the B & O railroad.
