Biography

John was born in 1728. He was the son of John Poindexter and Christian Gissage. He passed away in 1810. [1]

John and Captain Meriwether Lewis are 2nd cousins, one generation apart. Meriwether Lewis (August 18, 1774 – October 11, 1809) was an American explorer, soldier, politician, and public administrator, best known for his role as the leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, also was the 2nd Governor of Louisiana Territory.
