Biography

Joseph was a journalist for the Richmond Enquirer. Joseph was a white man and may have been the brother of George Poindexter, second governor of Mississippi.

He married Evalina, of mixed black and Cherokee descent. Evalina died around 1824. This information is from the Wikipedia article on Rev. James Preston Poindexter.[1]

He was the father of Rev. James Preston Poindexter, of Columbus, Ohio.[2]
