According to genealogist Placide Gaudet[1]Marguerite Poirier born in about 1764 was the daughter of Joseph Poirier, "maitre cannonier a bord d'un corsaire français" who died in Tintamarre about 1779. Her mother was Marguerite Lavigne. She married Firmin Martin about 1784 in Rustico.

None could sign.[3]
