Biography

Marie Poirier was born around 1709, likely in Beaubassin since her family was counted there in the censuses of 1707 and 1714.^[1] She was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Poirier and Marie Cormier. ^[2]

She married Abraham Chiasson, son of Gabriel Chiasson and Marie Savoie, around 1724. Stephen White does not give a location for their marriage.^[2]

The family was recorded in Acadie at Menoudie in the 1750 census ^[4], and at Aulac in the 1752 ^[5] and 1755 censuses. ^{[6] [7]}

She died after the 1755 census and was possibly deported to South Carolina with the family during the Grand Dérangement. ^[7]
