According to the 1881 Canadian Census, Narcisse Poissant was born in about 1823 in Laprairie, Laprairie, Bas-Canada (Quebec). He was of French Canadian origin and an Inn-Keeper ("Hotelier" in French).
His parents are not known.
In about 1848 he married Marguerite Mousset in Laprairie de la Magdalene in what was then called Canada East (Quebec). Narcisse and Marguerite Poissant's household in 1881 consisted of the following:
Maurice Bincette........ ?? ...........M.........69y..........Quebec
William Patrick........Worker......M.........19y...........Quebec
On the 1891 Canadian Census, whose summary does not include family members living in the household, Narcisse Poissant was said to be 71 years old (born ca. 1820), Roman Catholic, and married. He was then living in the city of Montreal, East Ward. His wife is not named but there is a "female Poissant" living in the same household said to be 69 years old (b: 1822) in Montreal's East Ward, and it can be assumed it is his wife Marguerite. No children were listed so it's assumed they had left home.
No more official information has been found for Narcisse or Marguerite Poissant. They are not on the 1901 Census and can be presumed to have died before then.
