Bruno was born 22 Nov 1839 in St Leonard, NB. He was the first born child of Cyrille PoitrasLucie Dube. At age 32 he married Sophie Cyr, Daughter of Pierre and Elodie Cyr 1 Aug 1871 at St Leonard Parent. [1] There were 4 children of the union. Bruno and his father each had a 91 acre parcel of land side by side fronting on the St John river at St Leonard NB. He passed away 19 Feb 1890 at the age of 52. [2]
About Bruno's Death
Date February 25 1890 Newspaper The Daily Telegraph;
Bruno Poitras left Hopkin's camp on the Tobique waters, Monday 17th, for Grand Falls (Victoria Co.) cutting across through the woods. He was found by a traveller in an old hovel nearly frozen to death on Wednesday. He had been 36 hours without fire and only two miles off from Forbe's camp where he was taken with difficulty. Friends were sent for who brought him out Wednesday and he expired going up Waddel's hill near Grand Falls about 4 p.m. being unconscious up to the time.[3]

Bruno Poitras, well known resident of St. Leonard's, died Friday last. Deceased had been working on the Tobique River and left the camp at which he was boss to visit his home. He was found at the depot camp Wednesday last by Geo. TEDLIE in a very weak condition. He was benumbed with cold and could scarcely speak. Mr. Tedlie removed him to Forbe's camp about two miles distant. On Thursday his brother went after him to take him home, but before he reached the latter place he died. Deceased has been a boss in the lumber camps for a number of years.[4]
