Biography

Teunis Polhemus (Aertje Teunise Bogart, Teunis Gysbert4 Bogaert, Gijsbert Theunisan3 Boogaertman, Theunis Gijsbertszn In Den2, Gijsbert In Den1) was born 1678 in Flatbush, Kings County, Long Island, New York.

When Theunis/Tunis Polhemus was born in 1670 in New York, his father, Theodorus, was 24 and his mother, Aertje, was 15. He married Sarah Emans in 1720 in Gravesend, New York. They had six children in 13 years. He died on December 2, 1743, in Flatbush, New York, at the age of 73.

He married Sarah Emmans circa 1719 in Jamaica, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Sarah died after 22 Apr 1735 at age unknown. Teunis & Sarah's children:

  1. Theodorus baptised 10 September 1720, Jamaica, Queens, NY wits: Hannes Polhemus and Katreyna Polhemus. [1]

His will dated 22 April 1735 Flatbush, NY named wife Sarah, eldest son Theodorus, other son Andries. Lands and houses in Flatbush when they are of age. Daughters Elizabeth, Rebecca, Aertie and Antie. Exes brothers Johannes and Abraham Polhemius, brother-in-law John Verkerk and Andrew Emans. [2]

Teunis died before 2 Dec 1743 in Flatbush, Kings County, Long Island, New York, at age 65 - as at that date his will was probated.
