JOSEPH JAMES POLLARD was born on 11 May 1869, in Creswick, to Joseph James Eddy Pollard and Jane (Jenny) McMurtrie He was christened on 2 November 1870, aged 1, in Creswick.
Joseph died 1905 in Rutherglen Victoria in a mining accident.
" '~- The adjourned inquiry into the circumstances of tho death of Joseph James Eddy Pollard, who was killed at the Great Northern Exten ded Consols mine last month, was concluded on Monday before the coroner, Mr. Beaver, and a jury.. Tho evidence showed conclusive!}' that tho cause of tho earth falling was the fact that tho contre prop in the blocking strip where de ceased was working was driven in too tight. The jury returned a verdict to the effect that' dc- coased met his death under circumstances purely accidental. Funds are now being raised in aid of the widow, and all the minors em ployed in tho above mine have each contributed the pay for one full shift."
