Biography

Emma Margaret Pollard was born about 1831 in the Channel Isles . She was Baptized 17th July 1831 to John and Mary Pollard in St Helier. Their son John Isaac Pollard was baptized the same day.[1]

Emma married Theodore Gartrell (Gastrell) in the Channel Isles on 10th August 1848 [2]

In the 1851 census Emma Margaret was the wife of Theodore Gartrell an upholsterer . They lived on the Isle of Jersey in the Chanel Isles [3] They had one son Theodore John who was not yet one year old. Emma was 21 and born in the Channel Isles.

Her second son Edwin John Gartrell was born in Australia in 1853 which suggests that Theodore and Emma may have come to Australia for the Gold Rush which had started at this time.

In 1859 Emma Margaret Pollard had a son Albert John Belot [4] The father is not named but is presumably John Belot who Emma later married in 1864 and again in 1870. [5][6]

In 1864 Emma Gantrell married John Belot, her second husband[7]She was the Landlady of the Junction Hotel in Vaughan Victoria Australia .[8]

Emma Margaret Belot neé Pollard was the daughter of John Pollard and Mary Jane Hooper. She died in Prahran Victoria in 1884[9][10][11]
