Biography

Martha Mariah Pollard was born January 4, 1799, in Groveton, Columbia county, Georgia, a daughter of Robert Pollard and Martha (Marshall) Pollard. Martha Mariah is the twin sister of Mary F. Pollard, who married James Hammack on August 2, 1827, in Bibb county, Georgia. [1]

On December 16, 1818, in Columbia county, Georgia, Martha married Isaac Lucas, a son of John Lucas and Elizabeth (Doby) Lucas. [2] Children of Martha Mariah and Isaac Lucas are:

  • John Lucas, born 1821, in Columbia county, Georgia
  • Sarah E. Lucas, born 1825, in Columbia county, Georgia, married the Reverend James D. Wilson, on December 18, 1872, in Talbot county, Georgia
  • Marshall Lucas, born August 13, 1829, in Columbia county, Georgia
  • Joseph Isaac Lucas, born 1831, in Columbia county, Georgia, died February 20, 1918, in Talbot county, Georgia, married Marietta Hogg, a daughter of George Euclidus Hogg and Elizabeth (Willis) Hoggon September 9, 1854, in Talbot county, Georgia
  • Lucinda Elizabeth Lucas, born February 3, 1833, in Columbia county, Georgia, died February 28, 1910, in Junction City, Talbot county, Georgia, married John Anderson Boswell (1832-1911)
  • James Perryman Lucas, born July 22, 1830, in Columbia county, Georgia, died October 7, 1860
  • Levi Epaenetus Lucas, born circa 1839, in Columbia county, Georgia, died after 1880, in Talbot county, Georgia, married Sarah A. F. Baugh

Martha and Isaac, and their daughter Sarah are found on the United States census of 1880, living in the household of their son, Levi and his wife, Sarah. Martha was 80 years of age. [3]
