Biography

Julia Pollard was born at Livermore, Maine, on 21 Sep 1847, daughter of Stephen Pollard Jr. and Lucy B. (Merrill) Pollard. .^[1]

The 1850 US census for Turner, Maine lists the resident of a home as head of household Alva [sic] Merrill (49), a farmer, Hannah Merrill (49), Nathan Merrill (23), a farmer, Ellen Merrill (19), a student, George F Merrill (11), a student, Frank M Merrill (7), a student, Stephen Pollard (35), a shoemaker, Lucy Pollard (21), and Julia Pollard (2). Alvah owns real estate valued at $1000.

Note: Lucy Pollard is the daughter of Alvah and Hannah. The 1855 New York State census for Amity, New York lists residents Stephen Pollard (39), a shoemaker, his wife Lucy Pollard (26), daughter Julia (7) and son Oliver (2). All were born in Maine. Stephen, Lucy and Julia have been residents for four years while Oliver has lived there for two years. They live in a framed house valued at $300.

She married Charles Lord Spaulding. According to the 1900 US census, they had been married for twenty-six years, thus being married about 1874. They were the parents of three known children.

Julia died at Buffalo, New York in 1916 and is buried at the Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont, New York.
