He was the son of Francis Pollard and Elizabeth Austin.
He married Mary Ann Smith (1837-1885) at Hat Creek, Campbell County VA, on July 26, 1859, and they were the parents of two sons.
An address from a letter dated June 10, 1862: Frank T. Pollard, Esq., Care Capt. Hensley, Company B, Allen's Battalion, Richmond VA. Another note, in someone else's handwriting, has the same address, but June 10, 1861.
His granddaughter was told that he died of "brain fever [encephalitis? meningitis?] He developed it in camp, near Petersburg, and asked to go home to die.
He is buried in the Austin family cemetery in Bedford Co. VA[1]. He is not listed in Find A Grave as of September 6, 2016.
His gravestone inscription reads as follows:
Sacred To the Memory

F.T. Pollard
Died Aug. 4 1862
aged 37 years
Sleep on beloved, in thy quiet home
Free from all pain and strife
Sleep on unmindful of the tears
Of her thou once call'dst wife.
