Biography

John H. Pollard was born 19 August 1880, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to "Mattie" Kindall and William Pollard. [1]

On 20 January, 1899, at the age of 18 years, 4 months, John H Pollard who was a printer by trade, enlisted into the United States Army, making him a veteran of the Spanish American War. He was described as 5' 6" tall, with blue eyes, dark brown hair and a dark complexion. He was assigned to the 9th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, F Company.[2] regiment was mustered out of service on November 26, 1898.[3] He deserted on 22 August 1901.[4]

John Pollard married Lizzie Nash on 15 April 1902 in the Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. They were each 21 years of age and residents of Boston. John was employed as a bookeman and Lizzie lived at home with her parents. The ceremony was officiated by Raymond T. Holway.[5]

John died in Smoqualmie Fallas, Washington on 1 October 1923 [6] and is interred at Lake View Cemetery, Seattle, Kings County, Washington, USA. [7]
