• Roland was born in 1896. He was the son of Arthur Polley and Agnes Berry.
• He arrived in Qld on 28 Jan 1909 aged 11 aboard the Orient.
• He passed away in 1958.

WW1 Service National Archives of Australia Enlisted, 6th Reinforcements, 4th Pioneer Battalion, at Brisbane on 15 May 1916, Number 2928, occupation jeweller. Embarked A35 'Boonah' at Brisbane, 21 Oct 1916, disembarked Plymouth 10 Jan 1917. Injured left knee 19 May 1918. Injured 'penetrating wound', gun shot wound, injured sinews, left hand 2 Jun 1918. Granted leave at employer's request to learn diamond cutting 19 Mar to 27 Jun, 1919. Returned to Australia per 'Argyllshire' 2 Aug 1919. Discharged 8 Nov 1919.

Returning home The Week (Brisbane, Qld) 12 Sep 1919 Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Polley, of New Cleveland road, Tlngalpa, have been advised that their second son, Roland Polley, is returning ex the Argylshire, due to arrive Melbourne, 23rd September. Mr & Mrs Polley have had three sons on active Service. When Roland arrives, they will all have returned.
