Mary "Polly" Pomeroy was born May 18, 1735, in Roxbury, Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, a daughter of George Pomeroy and his wife, Margaret. In 1750, Mary married Robert Reed, born circa 1730, in County Donegal Ireland. This family paid supply tax in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania and for this reason, Robert is honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by their, son, Robert, Jr. who married Sarah "Sally" Clifford.

Robert Reed died in 1796, and is buried in the Camp Fairfield Cemetery, aka Fairfield Cemetery, in Fairfield, Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania. Mary (Pomeroy) Reed died December 10, 1803, at the age of 68 years. [1]
