Ann Pomfrett was born 29 March 1848 in Clavering, Essex, England to John Pomfrett and May (Ward) Pomfrett.^[1] Her birth was registered in Saffron Walden, Essex in the second quarter of the year.^[2]

In 1861 Ann Pomfret (age 13) lived at Worlds End Clapton in St John Hackney, Middlesex with her widowed mother Mary (45, Nurse).^[3]

Ann Pomfrett, daughter of John Pomfrett, married James Hill, son of James Hill, on 29 Jun 1867 in Hammersmith, Middlesex.^[4] The marriage was registered in Kensington, London in the second quarter of the year.^[5]

Ann and James had two children: James Hill Jr (1870-1926) and Amy (Hill) Fenn (1876-1950).

In 1871 Ann Hill (age 23) lived in Battersea, London with her husband James (25, Bricklayer) and son James (0).^[6]

Ann and her family emigrated to Ohio, USA in 1871.

In 1880 Anne Hill (age 32, Keeping House) lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio with her husband James (35, Brick Layer), son James (10, At School), and daughter Mamie (4).^[7]

In 1900 Ann Hill (age 52) lived at Ellen Street in Cleveland City Ward 32 with her husband James (54, Mason Contractor), son James Jr. (30, Mason Contractor), daughter-in-law Minerva (30), daughter Amy (24), and boarder Valentine Fenn (27, R R Clerk).^[8]

In 1910 Ann Hill (age 61) lived at Ellen Avenue in Cleveland Ward 3 with her husband James (63, Mason Contractor), son James Jr (39, Mason Contractor), son-in-law Valentine H A Fenn (36, Freight Office), daughter Amy Fenn (33), and five Fenn grandchildren: Alice M (7), Walter H (4), Albert E (3), Anne P (0) and Amy L (0), as well as lodger Evelyn P Hodge (16, Apprentice Dressmaker).^[9]

Ann's husband James Hill passed away in 1917.

In 1920 Ann Hill (age 72) lived in Cleveland Ward 3 with her son-in-law Valentine H A Fenn (46, Railroad Clerk), daughter Amy Fenn (43), six Fenn grandchildren, and her son James Hill (48, Building Contractor).^[10]

Ann Hill passed away on 5 Mar 1922 in Cleveland.^[11]
