Although she was referred to as AMEY WRIGHT in court records filed first in 1755, WRIGHT was actually the surname acquired from her marriage to JOHN WRIGHT, after the death of MORRIS EVANS. I am uncertain what her maiden name may have been, but there has been speculation that she may have been a daughter of WILLIAM POOLE, who was the administrator of MORRIS' estate. I also am speculating if she may have been a HOBSON or at least related to them, because of the frequency of her name in records concerning SARAH HOBSON, in particular. For now, I am showing her as surnamed WRIGHT, and hope that sometime in the future, a record will be found to give her correct maiden name, which in all likelyhood was AMEY POOLE. Of note is the following entry: On March 1, 1753 WILLIAM POOLE deeded 50 acres on the north side of Flatt Creek to RICHARD EVANS, son of MORRIS EVANS, for love and affection. Witnesses: EPHRAIM MAYBRY, ADAM TARPLEY (TAPLEY), an ROBERT POOLE (Lunenburg Co. Deed Book 3, pg. 224).
