On 27 October 1808 she married David Cowan in Blount County, Alabama, USA[2]. Together they raised nine children: Sarah Frances, Temperance Adeline, Mary Ann, Martha Jane, Elizabeth C., Sabrina Emmeline, James john, Joseph Pinkney amd Matilda E.[3]

On 1 January 1864, Elizabeth died in Blount County, Alabama, USA. David remarried to Sarah L. Adams on 18 December 1864 in Blout County[4].

David died on 9 September 1870 in Fayette, Fayette County, Alabama, USA. Sarah died on 13 June 1920 in Blount County.

Research Notes

The documentation for this Elizabeth C Pool and David Cowan has, in some profiles, been mixed with data from a different David Cowan who married a woman named Desdemonia Anderson. This update of profile attempts to clarify the record ... this is not Desdemonia Anderson.

The Pool, Traynhan, Semms Bible shows the name to be Elizabeth Pool with no middle name. ( middle name may be Catherine, but at present we have no primary documentation to prove that),

Best available evidence is that the profiles of two different David Cowan men have become mixed up in some family trees. There is a marriage document from Alabama that shows "a" David Cowan marrying "a" Desdemonia Anderson ... and some trees have co-minguled these two different women's data.

Based on a review of available documentation Profile this will use the Elizabeth Pool name as found on the Historical Marker in the Pool Family Cemetery in Laurens SC , which is the same name as found in the Pool family Bible. I also note that when Elizabeth Pool's father, William Hudson Pool, named his children in his 1860 Will, He referred to Elizabeth as Elizabeth Cowan ( the spelling of Cowan in the Will may be Cowen or Cowan); this will is considered to strongly support "Elizabeth Pool Cowan" as the correct married name of this daughter of William Hudson Pool and Catherine Kelley Pool.

Added by Lyle McElhaney:

I find it possible to believe that Elizabeth C. Pool and Desdemonia Anderson may be the same person, somehow. Perhaps she wanted to hide her identity on the marriage license for some reason. Looking up data in ancestry dot com,
- birthdates are a couple of months apart;
- death dates are the same;
- Birth and death places the same.
- Both have children names Temperance Adeline, Mary Ann, abd Sabrina Emmaline;
- Elizabeth had a sister named Diadema Pool who died at age 8. She could have gotten confused with her sister.
- Data on the second Cowan or on Desdeminia; other family, for example - seems hard to come by.
