Biography

John was born in 1766. Both he and his father are recorded in Whitestown, Oneida County on the Tax Assessment Roll of Real and Personal Estates, as having log houses and land in 1799. Both are also recorded in the 1800 Federal Census living in Whitestown. John H Poole is also recorded in the 1820, 1830 and 1840 census records there. From those census records, it appears that he had 2 unknown daughters who predeceased him and left no heirs. He passed away in 1842. John H Poole Sr, was the son of Benjamin Poole and Ruth Hudson. He married Esther Root.

In his will, dated May 7, 1841, probated Apr 16, 1842 in Oneida County NY, John Hudson Poole mentions his daughter Sally (unmarried at the time, but later marries Nathan Saxton Gates); his daughter Aramenta w of Elias P Root; children of his deceased son John H ... Laura, DeWitt Clinton, Mary and Henrietta; his sons Marvin and Jesse R; and Sophia w of David Hamilton; and names son Jesse executor.
