Isabel (Pool) Carr (bef. 1858)

Biography

Isabel, or Isabella, was born in 1858^[1] in Melbourne, Yorkshire, England, and was baptised nearby in Thornton.^[2][3] She was the daughter of John Poole and Elizabeth Holliday and lived in Melbourne with her parents in 1861.^[4]

In 1871 the Pools lived in Portington, Yorkshire.^[5] At the time of the 1881 census Isabel worked as a domestic servant for the Hammond family in Hessle, Yorkshire.^[6]

She married William Carr in Thornton in 1884.^[7][8] By 1891 the Carrs lived in Hunslet, west Yorkshire, where William worked as a school caretaker.^[9] By 1901 he also worked as a church verger and the Carr family lived in Holbeck, Yorkshire.^[10] In 1911 they lived on Northcote Road in Hunslet.^[11]
