Biography

In 1624, when the Jamestown Census was made, Daniel Pool, wife and young child are shown living on the George Sandys Plantation. Sandys as a English a famous English Poet from a very wealthy English family. He had been made Treasurer of the Colony of Virginia. Daniel was attempting to establish a profitable wine venture for Sandys just as David Poole and his fellow "master wine makers" were trying to help establish the industry for the Colony.

This unnamed child Pool was born about 1623. Most show this child as male, however, I cannot document that fact. He is listed as a "sonne" by several sources, although I think I have seen a reference to that effect, the 1624 Jamestown Muster only shows "young child" ...

Since there were so few Poole's in early VA, this child is noted because "if" he lived and had children , he could be the ancestor of some of the Poole family that have greater variance in Y DNA markers. Of this first generation of "American" Pools (children of David and Daniel) only John Poole is known to have survived and to have had children of his own. The stories of this unnamed child and of Martin and Jane Poole remain a mystery.

Although some genealogists associate this child with a "Henry Poole" who is documented to own land in the area in 1637; I think the greater evidence points against this this connection . I list it here for reference only. (New sources could prove me wrong).

When Daniel Poole returns from England in 1653, there is no record of any family traveling with him.

Biography

Shown as male child, but actual gender is not documented as far as I know.

Some good genealogists have associated this child with the Henry Poole who was living in the area in 1637. However I doubt this. The phrase "mother and small child are used in some references; I think that would indicate a very young child ( e.g. 3), which would make the child olny 10 at the time Henry Poole is shown owning land. 1624 MUSTER of JAMES TOWN Daniell Poole a "hired" at Esquire George Sands Treasurors Plantation, James Citty, described as :a french man; husband and father

Poole-2053 and Poole-2052 appear to represent the same person because: write ups are nearly the same
