First Marriage

John Poole and Mary Ann Briggs were married after banns in Stamford St George, Lincolnshire on 10th July 1848^[1]. They were bachelor and spinster, both of full age and living in Gas Meadow St George's. John was a station clerk and the son of John Poole who was a gardener. Mary was the daughter of William Briggs who was a publican. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were John Bradley and Fanny Briggs^[2][3].
