Anecdote found on Ancestry.com:[4]
" Joshua had devoted his active life to farming. The legend of his marriage to Molly Sturdevant was - Joshua was as poor as a proverbial Church mouse, he eloped with Molly in the middle of the winter, he put her on a hand sled, with a pillowcase of clothes, he pulled her across the state of Vermont, her parents never did forgive her, they wanted her to marry into money, they had a little money themselves."
