Obit in the Massena Observer, Jan. 22, 1920, page 4: Erbin S. Polley, a well known and much respected resident of this town died in St. Lawrence State hospital at Ogdensburg where he had been receiving treatment, Saturday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock. The remains were brought to Massena Sunday and the funeral was held from his home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The burial was made in the family lot in Massena Center cemetery. Mr. Polley was born in Massena on a farm below the Center, October 4, 1867, being the elder of two children of the late Flint M. Polley. His entire life was spent at home, in the management of the farm until failing health made it necessary for him to go to the hospital about a year ago. He was married June 10, 1896, to Miss Kate Peterson, at Mattineague, Mass., and brought his bride to Massena, and they have been known among the prosperous farmers and substantial residents of that part of town. He is survived by his widow, one son Hector, and one daughter, Clara, both at home; also one sister, Mrs. E. T. S. Thayer, of Norwood.
