Margaret was born about 1816.

Margaret Pooley of this parish, spinster married Joseph Townsend of this parish, Bachelor and Plumber by Licence on 29 June 1837 at St Martin in the Fields' Church, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^[1]

They had the following children:

1. William Joseph Townsend, b. 1838, d. 1897.
2. Mary Ann Townsend, b. 1841, d. 1885.
3. James E. Townsend, b. 1842, d. 1926.
4. Edward Joseph Townsend, b. 1847, d. 1933.
5. Eleanor Townsend, b. 1851.

In the 1861 Census of Canada, Margret Townsend (aged 45) was the married head of household in Chatham, Argenteuil, Canada East.^[2]

In the 1871 Census of Canada, Margaret Tounsend (aged 55) was recorded as married in Chatham, Argenteuil, Quebec.^[3]

In the 1881 Census of Canada, Margaret Townsend (aged 66) was recorded as married in Ontario.^[4]

Margaret Pooley, Relict of the late Joseph Hetherington Townsend, died at Glengarry, Province of Ontario on 22 August 1886, aged 71 years and was interred on 24 August 1886 in Ogdensburg burying grounds, Chatham Township, County of Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada.^[5] In the presence of the following witnesses were James Lamond and William Blair.
