Biography

Lucy was born in Andover 28 Sep 1670. Her parents were Daniel and Mary (Farnum) Poor/Poore.,[1]

Lucy Poor married Samuel Austin 11 Oct 1691 in Andover.[2]

Lucy died a widow on 25 Jun 1759, in her 88th year. Her husband Samuel had died 28 Sep 1753[3]

Samuel and Lucy Austin/Austen/Astin had, in Andover:[4]

  • Sarah, b. 28 Mar 1692
  • Samuel, b. 27 Aug 1694, m. Mehitable Frie/Frye, 1737, died EITHER 31 Dec 1764 a. 70 y. OR 3 Dec 1765 in his 71st y.
  • Joan, b. 13 July 1697
  • Mary, b. 28 Feb 1700-01, died 27 Dec 1774, in her 74th year
  • _____, daughter, b. 3 Apr 1706, see research note
  • Daniel, b. ___ ___ 1711, d. 14 Sep 1776, a. 65 y

Research Note The daughter born in 1706, unnamed in the surviving vital record, seems likely to be the Lucy Austin who married Asie/Asa Swan (as his second wife) in Methuen on 6 Feb 1734-5.[5] Lucy, w. Asie, died in Methuen 10 Jun 1764 in the 59 year of her age. (mistranscribed as 56 y. in the printed vital records.[6] Those gravestone numbers suggest she was born between 10 June 1705 and 9 June 1706, within which lies the birthday of the unnamed daughter. And no other daughter named Lucy was born to her mother, Lucy Poore Austin. Therefore, until overturned by other evidence, she is identified as Lucy Austin, who married Asa Swan.

Poor-20 and Poore-69 appear to represent the same person because: The birth and death dates are the same. Birth and death Places are the same. Both list Daniel and Mary (Farnum) Poore as her parents. Poor-20 has it in the section defined for Parents. Poore-69 has the parents listed in the bibliography. There is a long GED load bibliography that needs to be cleaned up and formatted under Poor-20.

I don't know how you decide between using Poor or Poore.

Thanks,

Sandra
