Biography

Genealogically Defined

Ann Maria was born on the 16th June 1844 at Church Square in the Borough of Bodmin, Cornwall, the daughter of Rober Bake [sic] Pope and Sarah Pope formerly Buckley. Father's occupation: Miner[1]

On the 15th August 1869, Annie Maria married John Nott at the Wesleyan Chapel in the district of Falmouth, Cornwall, England. John Nott, 27 years, bachelor, labourer, of Veryan Place, Falmouth, son of John Whetter Nott (Farmer) and Annie Maria Pope, 25 years, spinster of Ludgate Hill, Falmouth, daughter of Robert Pope (Miner). Witnessed by Mary Rule & James ? [2]

Annie probably married at the Wesleyan Chapel as it may have been the closest Methodist church. Her first son William John was baptised at home by the Mevagissey Bible Church Circuit 22nd September 1870.[3]

Annie Maria died on the 7th February 1928 at 10 Widow's Row, Falmouth, Cornwall. Aged 81 years, the widow of John Nott, Pier Toll Collector. Cause of Death: Chronic Bronchitis. Informant: W.A. Nott (daughter in law) of 41 Langton Road, Falmouth, in attendance. [4]
