Richard was born May 28, 1829 in Plymouth, Devon, England. He is the son of John Pope and Catherine Uglow.
His 1st marriage was to 18 year old Mary Frances Harriet Ricketts on February 8, 1853 in Madras, Madras, India. They were the parents of 2 sons and 3 daughters.[1]
His 2nd marriage was to Elizabeth Agnes Phillips in 1868 in Birmingham, Warwickshire. They were the parents of 3 sons and 1 daughter.
