Cullen appears in the 1820 Federal census in Jones County, Georgia. Cullen's household appears as follows: 1 male under 10; 1 male 10 thru 15; 1 male 16 thru 25; 1 male over 45; 3 females under 10; 1 female 16 thru 25; 1 female over 45; and 10 slaves.[2]
Cullen appears in the 1830 Federal census in Monroe County, Georgia. Cullen's household appears as follows: 1 male 10 thru 14; 1 male 15 thru 19; 1 male 50 thru 59; 1 female 10 thru 14; 1 female 15 thru 19; 1 female 30 thru 39; and 9 slaves. There is no female in the household in the 50 thru 59 age bracket so it can be assumed that Cullen's wife was deceased by 1830.[3]
Cullen left Monroe County, Georgia and settled in Perry County, Alabama by the 6th of October 1831. Bureau of Land Management patent records show that Cullen Pope paid for land on the 6th of October 1831. The certificate for the patent was issued on the 12th of September, 1835 for 40.23 acres of land in the North East quarter of the North East quarter of Section 12 in Township 18 North and Range 7 East, in Perry County, Alabama.[4]
Cullen Pope died sometime after 1835 in Alabama, possibly Perry County.

Cullen Pope-1702 was born about 1752 in Halifax county, North Carolina, and died after 1830 in Monroe county, Georgia. The Cullen Pope-4266 of this biography was born about 1765 in North Carolina, location currently unknown, giving a difference of 13 years in the ages of the two men. The Cullen Pope of this biography was living in Perry County, Alabama by 1831, and obtained land patents in Perry County, Alabama in 1835. Cullen Pope-1702 and Cullen Pope-4266 are two different men and can not be married to the same woman at the same time.
