Clarence was born in 1890 and grew up in Ohio. He served in the infantry during World War I, seeing action at Saint Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. Enlisting as a private, he had advanced to sergeant before his discharge in April 1919.
Clarence worked for Burroughs Adding Machines in Youngstown and for Bethlehem Steel and the B&O Railroad in Baltimore.
Clarence died in 1975.
