Albert was born the son of James Porter and Charlotte Whitcombe (Knight) Porter on the 2nd April 1878, in Taunton, Somerset and his birth was registered in the 2nd quarter 1878, reference Taunton 5c/377.[1][2][3]
1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Albert was living at 26 St. James Street, Taunton with his parents James and Charlotte, and his siblings Emma, Henry, Flora (shown as Melsia), and Walter.[4]
In 1888 a school prize was won by Albert Porter.[5][6]
1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Albert was living in St. James Street, Taunton, Somerset with his parents James and Charlotte, and siblings Emma, Henry J., Malora (shown as Malvia), Walter, Florence, Francis, William and Mabel. (William and Mabel were listed on a continuing page in the census).[7][8]
In 1891 Albert won a prize at the North Street Sabbath School.[9][10]
1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Albert, a printer, was boarding in Chesterfield Terrace, Lichfield, Staffordshire.[11]
Albert married Rosanna Taylor Channing in Taunton and the marriage was registered in the 1st quarter 1902.[12]
1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Albert was living at Tankerton, St. Johns Road, Earlswood, Redhill, Surrey with his wife Rose and his children Gladys, Grace, Ronald and Arthur.[13]
Albert attended his sister Mabel's funeral in Taunton in 1928. He was living in Worcester.[14][15]
In 1929 Albert attended his father James Porter's funeral as recorded in the Taunton Courier, and Western Advertiser – Wednesday 6th March 1929: The funeral of Mr James Porter, former Taunton tradesman, whose death occurred at Burnham-on-Sea, took place on Tuesday afternoon at St. James's Cemetery, Taunton. Mr Porter had reached the age of 82. The Rev. J. Jones Vaughan, minister of North Street Congregational Church, conducted the burial service, and the chief mourners were Messrs H. J. Porter, Taunton, Albert Porter, Worcester, Walter Porter, Newcastle, Francis Porter, Chelmsford, and William Porter, Norwich (sons), Mrs Oram, of Low Ham, Langport, and Mrs W. Porter, Berrow (daughters), Miss Osborne, Bristol (sister-in-law), Miss Wilmott, Bristol, Mrs Groves, Pitney, Langport, and Miss Ethel Silvester, Berrow (grand-daughters), Mr O. Coombes, Berrow, Mr C. Knight, Taunton.[16][17]
1939 National Register on the 29th September 1939 Albert, a general shopkeeper and dealer, was living at 22 Middle Street, Worcester, Worcestershire with his wife Rose and his son Arthur.[3]
On the 20th January 1945 Albert attended his brother Henry's funeral service at North Street Congregational Church, Taunton.[18][19]
Albert died aged 90 and his death was registered in the 3rd quarter 1968 in Worcester, Worcestershire.[20]
