Biography

Ernest was born about 1887 the son of Albert Porter (1855 - 1909) and Sarah Ann (Cooke) Porter (~1857 - 1938), and his birth was registered in the 1st quarter 1887 in Newport, Monmouthshire. He was christened on the 13th March 1887 at St Woolos Church, Newport, Monmouthshire.[1][2][3]

1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Ernest was living at 48 Jones Street, Newport, Monmouthshire with his parents Albert and Sarah, and his siblings Mary, Rosa, George, Lilian and William.[4]

1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Ernest, a general office boy, was living at 9 St Woolos Road, Newtown, Monmouthshire with his parents Albert and Sarah, and his siblings Mary, Rosa, George, Lilian, William, Herbert and Eva.[5]

1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Ernest, a fitter and turner, was boarding at 63 Chepstow Road, Newport, Monmouthshire.[6]

Ernest's marriage to Mabel L. Morgan was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1918 in the Newport (Monmouthshire) district, Wales.[7]

In the 1921 census Ernest (age 34), Fitter & Turner Iron & Steel, was the married head of household at 80 Sutton Road, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.[8]
