DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:

Also, I have a bunch of Porter Family notes that are in an email titled "Personal Notes for Thomas PORTER. brother to Samuel" from Charlene Ebeling on ct 24, 2020, 6:11 AM.

I plan on adding the information to a research notes section, but here are the highlights:

"Posted by: Meredith DeBuse (ID *****4006) Date: July 05, 2007 at 18:51:27 In Reply to: Re: Porters in Fauquier Co. VA by Jim Ball of 8996

I can tell you abt one of the Porter families in Fauquier Co, VA. Samuel Porter who married Eve Weaver, was an immigrant to VA ca. 1740's. Sources say he came from Warrington, Lancashire England, with a bro Thomas. Thomas's christening record appeared in the Warrington Parish records, s/o Thomas Porter and Anne. No record of Samuel's birth has been found in Eng. or VA. Samuel was born abt 1732. He served in the Revolution and was taken prisoner in Quebec. He had a son Samuel who married Mary Withers. Their son, also Samuel, b 1799 m. Mary Grayson. His family migrated out of VA, to Todd Co, KY, Montgomery Co, IL, Linn co MO. Samuel's (3) sons William, John and Macauley, immigrated to the Oregon Territory from MO, in 1848. Abt 1862, their father Samuel and family followed his sons to Oregon with the remainder of the son's siblings. Samuel settled west of Roseburg, Douglas, Oregon, and died there abt 1875. His three oldest sons settled in Benton Co, OR. Who said the old timers didn't move around!!"

"he will of Tilman Weaver (Fauquier Will Book 1, page 13) probated Mar 1760 mentions his daughter Eve Porter and his son-in-law Samuel Porter. This is the same Samuel Porter that purchased land along with Thomas Porter in 1765 in Fauquier."

Husband: Thomas PORTER Born: 1734 [13] Isle of Wight [10] ENG* [9] Married: 1759 [13] Campbell Co KY [13**] Died: 1799 [10] Campbell Co KY [10] at home of son Eli [13] w pr 24 June 1799 [1] Hamilton Parish Fauquier Co VA [1]

Other information: He came from England and settled in Fauquier Co. VA, at an early day, and his sons removed to Kentucky in the early settling of that country... [He] had been in Virginia long enough that he had three sons at Yorktown when Cornwallis surrendered” [9]. He appears on 1759 Tax List of Licking Run, Fauquier Co VA; he and his brother Samuel bought land in Fauquier Co VA in 1765 [12]. He served in the Revolutionary War as a captain in the 2nd Virgina Regiment under Col. Taylor [11]. He was enrolled as a sergeant in the Continental service 10 July 1777 for a term of 3 years, rose to be captain of a company of guards in Taylor’s Regiment, and in the end served a total of 3 1/2 years, receiving a bounty land warrant [13]. Jane Porter, widow of John Porter of Mason Co KY, guardian of his infant orphans, demanded division of Thomas Porter’s estate [8].

Wife: Sarah Weaver [10] Born: abt 1740 [13] prob from Germanna Colony, Culpeper Co VA [10] Died: 1787 [13] Wilkes Co GA [13]

"I have a Jedithan PORTER, so William PORTER, but I'm not sure he connects to our line. Jedithan's brother Epaphroditus "Eppa" PORTER m Elizabeth PORTER, do Thomas PORTER and Sarah WEAVER--my ancestors."

"Mrs. Ebeling, it has recently come to my attention that a record exist in Fauquair Co. Va, that is a tax record, mentioning the faCT that Jedithan Porter is the son of William Porter, and I am interested in that connection. Hancock Porter is going to be a Nephew of my Jedithan if tht is correct about him being the son of a William Porter. That particular William would be a brother to Edward Sanders Porter. Which ones are your set of Porters?"

"Hello again,

lI really do appreciate the information. I am wondering about what year that tax record was. Here is why I am wondering Edward Sanders Porter, William Porter and Edwin Porter, Eppaprhoditus Porter, all in Union Co. S. C. Jedithan who had married Rhoda Palmer dies in Union Co. in 1804, after obtaining a lot of land in that county. Hancock and Lancelot Porter sons of Edward Sanders are there. He has a son Eppaphrodituswho is in the county also. Jedithan not mentioned in Will of Edward Sanders. Why because he is not one of the sons. If not what is his connection to the rest of the Porters here. I believe he is probably a newphew to Edward Sanders Porter. Is this a possibility?"

It has taken me years to identify Sarah because she received her share of Tilghman's estate upon her marriage and therefore does not appear in his will.
