Roll of Honor
Robert Porterfield was killed in Action during the War of the League of Cambrai at the Battle of Flodden Field.

Robert obtained the lands of his father, John Porterfield, from King James IV of Scotland, by charter in 1500.[1][2][3] He is the first Porterfield for which the names of more than one child is known.

He had the following children by his wife Isobel Maxwell, a daughter of the house of Newark.[3]

  • Alexander - succeeded to the estate, but had no heirs
  • Colin - died at a young age
  • Allan - vicar of Androssan
  • John - received the Porterfield estate after the death of his brother Alexander.

Robert died at the Battle of Flodden on 9 Sep 1513.[4]

Research Notes

Playfair only identifies the two sons that succeeded to the estate.[5]
