Research Notes

This profile was created on 06 January 2010 through the import of gl120368.ged, certain information could not be interpreted.

The original gedcom file gives Thomas Portus and Caroline Punchard as parents of Dorothy Punchard (bef.1897-), (Caroline's profile doesn't appear to have been included in the gedcom (or has been merged away) but she does have a profile representing her - Caroline (Punchard) Steggles (1872-)).

However, the same gedcom also links her as a child of Charles Punchard and Mary Ann Steggles. Both sets of parents were marked as 'biological' so there was clearly some confusion.

Dorothy's baptismal record indicates she was, in fact, the illegitimate daughter of Caroline Punchard and butcher Thomas Portus.[1]
