Squire was born about 1785. He passed away in 1876.
Squire served during the war of 1812.
Squire was drafted on 1 August 1814 in Jasper County, Georgia and served with Captain Green’s Company of Militia, Wooten’s Battalion until February 1,1815. He was stationed at Fort Mitchell, near present day Phoenix City, Alabama. His Company was engaged in guarding supply wagons as they traveled from Fort Mitchell to Fort Williams. Fort Williams had been constructed by Andrew Jackson just before the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, which occurred on 27 March 1814. Fort Williams was located on the Coosa River at the mouth of Cedar Creek. Squire’s military record describes him as being 5’10” tall, gray eyes, dark hair and fair complexion. After his discharge at Fort Mitchell on February 1, 1815, he went back to his wife, Jane Pate, in Jasper County, Georgia (old Randolph County).
Squire married Milly Cagle on January 30, 1858 (his second marriage). Squire & Milly lived in Coosa County, Alabama from 1858 until 1872; in Larissa, Winston County, Alabama from 1872 until 1874; Walker County, Alabama from 1874 until his death in 1876. A Memorial Grave Marker was placed at the Posey Mill Cemetery by two great-grand sons with an in-correct date of birth. His burial site is not known, but probably buried in the community of which he lived.
